DMG
One beautiful summer day, we took a trip to Lassen. Do you remember? We took a picnic lunch and D,M and G. As we toured the lake and went wading, we noticed a huge amount of trees down in the park, like devastation. We saw tepees of branches stacked ready to burn, . We were so amazed at the tepees. Now I know those are specifically stacked like that to burn in one small area and not harm any trees or landscape around it. (I found that out this weekend.) While we were walking We let the kids climb downed trees, and at one tree, They walked the log and then dropped out of sight, the tree had a huge hole in it to climb down to the ground. That tree is still there. We saw many hung on their limbs when they fell. Several looked lake big bugs. One such tree is at the edge of Manzanita Lake, it looks like bleached bones of some huge monster bug from Jurassic period. I believe G pointed that out. I have several photos of the kids at the park, one of G with his pants falling off, and showing so much bottom. Very cute. At that time was when G had lost his baby fat, and nothing quite fit him. We then got around to a very clear shallow part of the lake, G and M wanted to wade, I let them but only holding my hand. We then got to the waterfall, which is nothing more than the lake spilling over rocks under a bridge. We again let them play on the rocks. It was a great day. I think we wore them out and I know they wore us out. So this weekend brought back all those memories and they were bitter sweet. Sad but a memory we hold forever, so to each of you kids thank you for the time you allow us with our grandchildren, we hope to build memories to last them a lifetime. So many grandparents do not have the communication we have with ours.
