Just thinking
Have you ever thought of the pointless nature we have? We consider ourselves, big, fat, tall, skinny, healthy, sickly, any verb you can conjure up, we are. But if we go a block down the street, our universe becomes larger, in other words if we step out of our box. When you are in an airplane and look down, the earth seems so small in comparasion. We see the tree in our front yard, It is huge, There is no way we can reach the top of it, without a special ladder, but way above it that tree is only a speck. It is all in prespective. Reminds me of a sesame street song, "That's bout the size, where you put your eyes, That' about the size of it". So are our lives, all in prespective. God is big, we are small, God is great, We are his replicas on earth. We are created in the image of God. So did God look like a man or a woman? Neither, Image is as he sees us. I uesd to have a teacher that often said. "God must have loved the average person, Average in looks and intelligence, He made so many of us". That went over my head every time she said it, but it stayed with me, I was only in the 7th grade when I heard it, Now I realize what she was talking about.

Cold Mountain
Today we watched Cold Mountain, for the first time. As we watched Inman plowing the upper field, with the mule. I recalled a time, not so long ago.
While growing up, We always had a garden, Mama would hire a colored gentleman to plow our field. He would show up with his mule and work all day, getting the garden just right. We always had beautiful gardens. My job was to plant the radishes and onions, I think it was because I was so particular about the rows being straight, Maybe I asked for that job, I don't recall.
While your dad and I discussed the plow job, he reminded me he did that kind of work too. At the age of 12, he spent a summer with his Uncle Sterling, Plowing the field and putting in a crop. He was a tiny guy too. D is a lot bigger but I can not imagine he or Joey doing that kind of work. Number one, their Mamas would not let them, and two they have never been around a mule. He loved that summer, He said he had all the food he wanted. He never got that at home. And all the food he wanted was Peas and Cornbread. He loves soul food.
As a child, He went to bed hungry often, It Makes me so sad to think of that.
Oh, a memory of times gone by are so beautiful and stay forever in the minds eye.
We love the memories we made, good and bad. They made us what we are today, and the love we have for each other, we hope to have passed on to each of you. A legacy of Love. That is what we want to leave behind.
