Beautiful "Summer" Night

Today was an amazing day. David and I worked in the yard until Noon. That is my quitting time.
(besides it was HOT!)
We then took a nap and ate a nice lunch/dinner.
Then off to a "Summer" Concert.
Yes, it was "Summer Schappell" She was amazing.
With the Nashville Summer Nights band and back up singer, They flew in from Nashville to preform with her.
I hope each of you watch for her music on the radio and local Country Music Stations.
She had several standing ovations, and the last song was "Rock Star" Which had the young people standing and dancing and cheering.
Her next to last song brought tears to our eyes. It was "Wings on my Dreams". David and I both teared up, as this was the song played at our Dear Friends, (Dave Sears) funeral, just a few short months ago.
Summer has several new songs, one I particularly liked was "Can't take my innocence". (unsure of correct title).
That song fit me to a tee.
Some of the words were, "When I am 85, I will still be catching snowflakes on my tongue."
I often wonder if people expect me to act more mature but then I can't. That is not my personality. I still laugh the loudest, I still talk to strangers, (who knows what incredible person I may pass up, if I hide away.)" Incredible people Like my Blogger friends.
I still love to make my husband laugh and worse yet, tell stuff on him. (weird stuff).
I guess I may age but I will never grow up. That is OK with me and David.

So after the concert we took a walk in Downtown Redding. It was an amazingly beautiful night. Slight breeze with the temp hovering around 80. (For you southerners, that is a perfect night as there is NO , None, Nada, Zilch, Humidity.)
When we moved here in 1967, Downtown was just that, a mix of several stores, including JC Penny, Woolworth's, Payless, Wards, You know the old mix.
Then the great minds of Redding decided to cover the streets and make it a covered mall. BIG MISTAKE.
That went over really poorly. Business moved away from Downtown, Downtown became a ghost town, All that would survive there were County offices.
Next a new generation of great minds decided to remove the roof.
Now it is beautiful again, Instead of opening the streets, they kept them just for walking. We have pillars of lights everywhere. We have sculptures and art work everywhere.
The old Cascade Theatre, (site of tonight's concert) was revived.
When they began that process, Imagine their surprise when beneath all that old paint, were beautiful artwork. The city then brought in experts to save all they could. And save they did, The interior is amazing. With Art Deco walls with guilded gold and art deco painting on the ceiling. A must see if you ever make it to Redding. (So much to see, so little time.)
Cascade went from a movie theatre, to a several screen theater, and now back to a local venue for local artist and special occasions. The streets are great for walking, trees line the streets and it is a beautiful place to just wander down a lane.
So now it is after 11 PM and I should close this long post.
I say Goodnight to all and close with much Love and friendship and gratitude for the times we have together.
