Planet Earth

I watched Planet Earth last night. David slept. What is new?
I wanted to share it with him but he can't help falling asleep.
So I will share with you, the glorious Earth we live on.
At least part.

This show was about the Forest of the world.
There is a bug in South America, (Cicada) It only rises from death every 17 years.
Wow how amazing is that?
One night it will begin crawling out of the earth beneath the trees, Its one goal in life is to climb and procreate.
This bug has 24 hours to metamorphose into a flying bug. It sheds it larva and  begins to fly.
The year of the Cicada, Every creature in the forest has a full stomach .
This in itself is a miracle  as food is not always plentiful for the wild life..
They are very noisy, and all the animals come to eat. They are fat and clumsy, the ones that drop into the water are eaten by frogs and turtles.
When their cycle is over, they all drop to the forest floor and die and the trees are given nourishment again.
This happens once every 17 years.
I sat in wonder and amazement at the Love of God and how he takes care of each of us.

The Deciduous trees of North America , Now that is amazing too,
When fall comes and the color changes to Red, The color can be seen from outer space.

Conifers, The Redwoods, (of course I speak of California trees).
It has been a while since I was there and the sheer magnificence of these trees is not taken for granted.
They are amazing.
One Grove in California houses the three biggest in the world.
In Sequoia Park stands the Tallest tree and it is called the General Sherman.
Sher this may give you an idea for an assignment.
The Cicada, I bet G would love to research that one.

We have cicadas. They are loud and obnoxious and ugly and leave their exoskeletons on the trees.
