Chicken????

Today is an extra gift for the year. We have been given one more day to do something in our lives. How will we use it?
Me? I am going to make a decent dinner. I blew it last evening.

See! I Had this whole  chicken., David loves fried chicken. I do too, under certain circumstances.
So I thawed the hen, I left it for him to carve.
He Butcherrrrrrrrred it. You could not tell a breast from a thigh as sometime the thigh bone was still attached to a leg, a bone with no meat. Bet you did not know a chicken can have 20 parts? LOL
It was horrible and I know he does not like carving a chicken. So as I walked in and saw the carnage I gagged.
I tried and tried to work with it, I used two fingers to pick up each piece and rinse it. I gagged.
I smelled raw chicken. (sorry if I am making you sick Sheri)
Finally dinner was on, I took one bite and it would not go down.
So I did the only logical thing, I shuffeled my lovely breast over to him. (chicken breast that is,
At Least, I think it was a piece of  breast.)

So I decided what I want for my Birthday,
A MAID TO COOK FOR ME.
Not asking a lot am I?

I did the same thing with Corned Beef this weekend but was able to eat a little of that.
I think the chicken smell took me back to chicken killing days.
Wanna know a secret?
When we killed chicken,Which was several times a year, (As soon as our baby's became fryer size) Daddy was the neck  wringer and helped pluck the feathers. He would become sick at his stomach. I can not recall my part in this other than maybe catching a chicken for him, But it was probably only one as I ran off gagging too.( Roy Loved catching chickens and Mama was good at it.
She knew how to corner those bittys)
We NEVER had fried chicken on the slaughter days. It took him several days to adjust.
He could not stomach the thought and the smell.
My Mom (the True Iron Lady)  used to get so disgusted at a grown man having such a weak stomach.
So now you know. My little tidbit of family history.
