Log Trucks

As I drove down churn creek on
Sunday night, I was stopped by flashing lights.

Back to the beginning.
As I left  home on Sunday Morning, I told David, I am not taking my rain cap, (attached to my coat) It is awkward. So out I go with my coat and my sweater and figured I would need nothing else. I had a great day at work serving full meal appetizers to our guests. Turkey, Mashed, Gravy, Yams, Stuffing, with Cranberry sauce. Full samples, just to whet the appetite. It sure did mine. I was so hungry for a full meal.

But I worked all day, 8 hours serving this food. I had a great time with it. I am sure I will  have more of those Road Shows. 8 hour days are Road Shows.

Leaving Costco, I was glad I had my coat.
As I walked to the door at Costco, we were in the middle of a Monsoon, People were jammed at the door, waiting for a lull in the downpour.
I scooted my way through and out the side door, The rain was coming down hard and fast. By the time I got to my car, my hair was dripping, My coat was soaked. My boots were drowned.
I had taken my glasses off because they were of no use in that downpour.
I tried to figure out why I could not see well.
DUH, I needed the glasses out of the pocket and on my face.
OK Now it is better,  but Not a Lot better. I take the back way home as I usually do, At one point the water was standing in the highway, and all I could do was throw water up on both sides of the car. it literally was under water as I saw the waves shoot 6 feet high as I drove through.

Now I reach Churn Creek, only to see the flashing lights ahead.
It looked like both lanes had cars in it so I slowllllllllly crept up. Yep it was blocked all right. I figured no big deal, so I sat a while  to see if anything moved.
A Policeman came out of his car and told me, "A log truck rolled and his logs are ahead, the truck is out but the logs are a problem," He shined his light for me to turn around in a driveway.
I was ready to be home,  Not go 4 miles out of my way to get home. I was almost home, Less than a mile.
OK I prayed for the driver and turned around.
As Dave and I left the next day, we saw the logs, Huge Logs lying in the ditch, with the upright supports still holding them in place. It took two days to remove them.
They are gone now but it shows how horrible a night that was.

Rain and Heavy Winds.
So as each of you travel, if you travel, Be Safe. We are traveling to our sons and plan to be there before 10 or 11. Get our hugs, food and come Home.

I will be working Friday, Early Shift. Getting ready for Christmas sell through.
The next items to hit the store will be swing sets, summer furniture and Wake boards. Yeah and Christmas is not even here yet.
