|Smoky in December 2012|
Smoky, our cat, has finally been put to sleep. It hurts so much, I can not even eat or drink.
David did it for us today.
I think it was one of the hardest things I ever had to decide to do.
Yes he was JUST a CAT to most people but those who knew him, Loved him.
He was so funny and gentle.
When he was petted he would drool all over you. His hind quarters would rise up for more petting.
Even as he was so sick and his eyes were failing, He was still gentle.
I watched him run into things, his right eye went first, then today I saw the other eye looked really bad.
He was constantly drooling and his eyes would weep.
His face was matted most of the time, but a gentle warm cloth would sooth him a little.
He was eating, Oh how he was eating. Two big cans of Pate' a day and still hungry and not gaining one ounce.
When I took him to the vet he weighed in at 9 lbs, I know he had been closer to 15 before we noticed his lethargy. He was given a high power antibiotic, It just did not work well enough and today they told us he was really an old cat.
Smoky was an outdoor cat and once he felt good, He wanted nothing to do with our room we had for him.
Then a couple of weeks ago he began constantly crying. It broke our hearts but we still could not put him down. We let him into our work shop all time, We tried so hard to keep him and help him.
Tonight as I drove in I looked for his Cat Attitude box. It was moved. I then started out and saw the box, tied up.
I began crying and telling him.. "Oh Smokey I am so sorry"
As I walked in David saw me and he began crying again.
He said,"As I was signing the papers I had to hold back or I was going to cry and I knew we had to do this."
So to my Special Kitty, Chico, Gonzales, Pedro, Smoky, All names David called him.
So tomorrow we will hold a special place for you on this propery.
The place you loved to roam and catch, birds, baby squirrels, moles and gophers.
You will be missed my sweet kitty.
We are so sorry we could not help you.
