OH Yeah Veggie soup.
As I stood at the counter contemplating what to do with all this stuff, (food) I suddenly recalled a simmering pan of soup, My Mom made.
It was her "end of the garden season soup."
It was So good.
So I cooked the tomatoes down, I then ran that trough a sieve, I added, squash, beans, peas, corn, peppers, and Basil.
Oh my, the memories flooded in, as the aroma took me back to another place and time.
I was 15, we had a huge garden and I was helping Mama put the food in freezer bags. We had a few items left that was not enough to make a full bag of anything.
(Mama always loaded her bags down)
She proceeded to tell me what to do with the veggies. Mama knew I loved vegetables, Leave the meat to someone else, I want the Butter Beans.
I mixed it all up and helped make the best soup I ever ate.
So today, Again we had fabulous soup.
David was so loving it. I put the rest in the freezer in quart bags. (Just like Mama did)
Now this winter we can have fresh garden vegetable soup.
I want to call my daughter and say, "Come on over Ladybug and lets make soup for the winter"
But alas, it is not just a drive across town.
Maybe someday it will be. Or at least to the next town.
I asked Ken to send Evan down for a few days to help with the picking and packing but of course I knew that was impossible.
School is about to start. and he is needed at home.
I sure miss my house full, I had so much I wanted to say and do, but there is Never enough time and you can never get that minute back.
I did get rid of quite a few things, They loaded up the cars and trailers and took them home. I am still over run with stuff. Just stuff.
Shelle, I forgot to give you the bowl to the dish set I gave you last year. I knew there was something else.
You would think, with all the bowls I gave you, that one would have made it into my thoughts.
Sheri I should have given you the Fiesta, and the box you wanted and requested.
See time just got away. I had so much to eliminate.
However a friend gave me an idea, Take your antiques to an antique store and see what they will give you for them.
Great idea, that is better than them lying around gathering dust and meaning nothing to me.
I am just debating on the Oil Lamps I have. If I need light they would be a great source of light.
Of course we have not lost electricity here, so that is not likely but if we move to Oklahoma, it is a high probability.
What to do??
Oh Sheri I need to give you the story on the quilt so you can post photos and the story to go with it.
When you feel lost and alone, Wrap up in that quilt and you will feel your Grandmas arms around you. At least it worked for me.
Time for bed, and I am ready, I work tomorrow and look forward to it. I think. LOL
