Holidays

It seems like I just blinked and I was not a child anymore. Sometimes we take for granted all the pleasures of childhood, that is until we are older and would love the innocence again.
Those children that God has blessed you all with are the best things that could happen to anyone. I know, and I wish I had spent more time with you all. We getting up to see the smiles on your faces as you realize Santa has been to your house. He often left little of the treats you put out for him. In addition we always knew the phone would ring in the bedroom even in the middle of the night. LOL A few times we told you it was too early. Like 2 or 3 in the morning.
I loved small town Christmas. Santa came in on the local firetruck. He would get on a big flat bed truck in the middle of the town square, (we called it the court house square), then each child in groves would come up and get a bag of fruit and candies. We loved it, It was the only time of year we got Apples and Oranges, Mama would often take that fruit and make us a fruit treat for dinner that night. And to add to the excitement, Santa came the weekend of or the day before Christmas, Never in November. That just seems wrong. But that is the way it is. I am sure in Sheridan he still arrives closer to Christmas. Some things should never change but technology has to move forward.
I bet in Sheri's little town something big will happen, Be sure to check it out, Become a part of it. How many do you have, isn't it like 400 people in that town. What a great place to live. Someday we will live in a small town again. Not sure where, but definitely a small town. There is a lot to be said for that kind of life.

Today all I have to do for Thanksgiving is make cornbread and Rolls, Kris is doing the rest, I have not had it this easy since I was still a daughter. Now a grandma and no one to go over the river and through the woods. It was not supposed to be this way, My dream was to be a fat grandma sitting on her front porch in a rocking chair with lots of kids in the yard playing. LOL Bet you did not know that. Wynell did, She told Jim one time not to approach the subject of Charles moving to Washington, she told him it was a sore subject. LOL She knew me pretty well.
I seems as if I touched on several subjects so next time I will get my thoughts straight. Promise.
Have a great day today and tomorrow, We miss you all,no parent ever loved their children more than we loved you all. Mama often told me I was worse than an old Mother hen, always got the have her chicks right under her feathers.
So from this old hen to each of you old hens, love to you all.

I told you it was like 300...but I was thinking of the breakdown of men to women. The population is around 550.

Have fun tomorrow at Ken and Kris'!! I am sure we'll have a great time in OKC.
