I hope you all have a great new year with all your dreams coming ture.
Resolutions, I have mine, given to me by my cardiologise. Get those triglycerides down. Got to do it, so no more sweets, butter, cheese, eggs, beef or pork. My triglycerides are rising at an alarming rate. Why cant I eat like everyone else? That is so unfair. One ounce of butter probably raises it 10 points. Anyway I got the dreaded call on Tuesday, Now the treatment is take 2 grams of fish oil a day, Well all I can say is it better be in tablet form. Otherwise I wont swollow it.
I was going to weight watchers on Thursday but got busy getting my house organized. I have moved all food products out of the kitchen and placed them in the pantry. my dishes are all in a new location and I think I like it, only time will tell if it stays that way. Definitely will take getting used to as I went to the wrong place this morning for coffee. Well you kids all know I change things often. LIke the time I moved the bed while your dad was at work and he came home late and did not turn the lights on. LOL LOL LOL That was so funny.
I have also redone all the linen closets, I mean both of the linen closets. I am thinking of ways to organize more, got to go shopping to get the right boxes. last is my sewing room, that is a challenge, I have so many boxes of fabric, and just things.
Anyway that is my chores for the new year, lose the triglycerides,(which is another way of saying fat in the blood), totally organize the house, plant a garden, (sell at a farmers market), I can grow basil so easily, Gonna be fun and great new year.

Gone
Finally the tree is packed up. Ken tells me that is sacrilegious, HUH? How? Anyway as everyone knows I function poorly in a disorderly house. Has to be clean and organized or my nerves get frayed. Hey I can visit your house with the disorganized but not mine.
David put everything in the old garage, tree is in rafters, boxes are on floor. I do still have the wreath hanging, the one Mashelle gave me 12 years ago. My post are still wrapped with garland and lights and yes the lights are still on the roof. May just stay there.
Today I am thinking of having a tattoo. What do you think of that. Don't you think a nice rose on my butt will look great, I can wear low rise jeans, No, they are going out of style this year, looks like the waistline are headed north. Nay, just kidding but I am going to get my eyebrows fixed so the scar will not look so visible. Sometime I wish I had not been such a tomboy when I was a kid, but I also love to reminisce the times of tree climbing, rope jumping, playing in the dirt with the boys, actually playing cars. And the infamous scar on my bottom lip, that too came from playing blind-mans-bluff. I was always a source of expense for my Mom and Dad due to injuries.
Charles I hope you read these post, You really need to be in touch with us, at least once every six months, I don't think one little
"Hello, Mom, Dad ,how are you. Great, the kids are doing good, Shelle is fine. OK will call again soon. Love you."
See now you don't even have to think of what to say, you can read from this post.
Ken we really enjoyed the holidays with your little family. Jarod and Cay kept us laughing. For the rest of you Cay is going to be a clown, Jarod is going to be a orator, He tells the big bad wolf story so good. Cey on the other hand will not tell that story he said "No the three dinosaurs". That is the story he tries to make up. Evan was sick while here and barely spoke a dozen words and Kiara, was eating everything she could find. (on the floor). She tried to eat plastic, old potato chips, potatoes and anything at her level. Mama had to keep an eye out.
In closing, all of you take care of yourselves, Keep in touch. You someday will know how much that can mean to a parent. It can make a gloomy day bright,

Christmas
Well another year has come and gone and hasn't it been a great year. Sure we have all had our share of disappointment and stress but God has seen us through each trial and Joy. Tonight as I sit here listening to Evan Jarod and ceylum telling stories to each other, I am reminded of simpler times in our lives. The times we listened outside your bedroom doors and heard the conversations you had with each other. You were always so close in your hearts and we pray you never lose that love or ccmpassion, you have, for each other.
Tonight I told the boys the story of the three little pigs. Then when I left and told them to go to sleep I hear that story being told again, Evan was telling it then came jarods turn. It was so cute. Finally Ceylum told his story. I heard weird huffing and puffing coming from that room. LOL Now the house is so quiet they are sound asleep knowing Mamaw is here watching over them. NO big bad wolf can get past her.
Our Christmas was a little sad this year, with Sheri and Mike gone, Seems as if every year is now bringing changes in our lives. Health issues are more common, Moves are happening in your lives and all things good or bad or indifferent are happening to each of you. Each decision you have made in your lives in the past have affected your future. Each little decison we make, affects how the outcome of the next day, week, year, lifetime will come out. Think good ones, look at the decisions you wish you had not made and learn from them. After all they may not have been wrong. We look back now, in the autumn of our lives, and see our mistakes, but we have enjoyed our lives, We had massive love for each other and you children. We adore all our grandchildren, we have nothing to be ashamed of or have to go before our God and explain. We know we made mistakes, but in retrospect we seem to have done a fair job raisin each of you.
We are proud of your generosity and kindness. We tried to teach each of you independent thinking, to not follow the croud, make your own choices and make good ones. If not then live with the consequences with no regrets, Regrets can make a big dent in your happiness.
So with that we hope each of you begin the new year with renewed hope and compassion,

Christmas party, china painter style
I just got home from the annual Christmas party at the Lennon Mansion. That is a victorian Mansion in Red Bluff, that is being refurbished by one of our co-painters. She is using it as a B&B. AT this time of year she opens it up for our party. Well I have to say I think I got the treasure today. Everyone went out and bought gifts, but home made is acceptable. Mine I got was homemade.
The story begins, In 1963 David and I moved to CAlifornia, In Red Bluff there was an auto court, It was Monahans Auto Court. It was just a cute motel type. I still remember that little place, since we did not have any in Sheridan, in fact we barely had a motel. (an auto court is a drive in motel).
As each of our numbers were drawn we were allowed to pick out any gift, everything was in bags, with cute bows or whatever on it . When my turn came, I walked up, did not even look the bags over, as everyone else did, I just picked up one and sat down. In the bag was an adorable handmade ornament, it looked like it was quilted. In addition was a hand painted plate. Painted by Georgia Monahan. She grew up in Red Bluff and lived on the same street where your dad grew up. She had moved to Redding years before he moved to Johnson street. The plate is so beautiful, it is of an asian lady with a red drape on. So beautiful, I, as you know, would rather have a hand made item than anything else.
When I watch her paint in class, she always paints something unique, Birds, horses, little kids by beds, You know, just not typical roses or flowers, She is a unique painter.
Now I have one of her plates. I have in the last few weeks secretly wished I could get one of her pieces, I would never tell anyone that in class, as it may offend. But Hey God heard my wish and I got it.
Sue Hays, one of our ladies told me , You got the treasure today.
I agree, dont you?.

Snotty Nose David
You are about to take a trip back to 1944,
Wynell was about 13, so I will tell it in first person, Now which person?
"I Wanna Go, I wanna go", screamed David, Little pest, Every time I get to leave this house he has to follow, and he always has a snotty nose.
Mama asked me to walk the two blocks to the corner store. Being in the midst of the depression, Every penny counted. Heck, who am I kidding, the depression was nothing different for us. We never had money and often not enough food to feed, 9 hungry kids. But today she had a few pennies, we needed beans and I was asked to go. No, I was told to go, and take David and he is begging for an Ice cream.
David never lets me out of his sight. He thinks he has to follow me everywhere I go. I will be so glad when I can move out and not watch these brats. With David, 6, Coy 5, Retha, at age 3, Caroll age 2 and one on the way , I knew I would never get to do anything just for me.
Well today I am not taking him with me. Mama always lets him have his way. I can still hear Mama say, Oh take the little thing with you Nell, It wont kill you." NO not me, but he may not live until we get there. I have to let him go but he is not gonna walk with me he has to stay behind because he is crying.
David got his way, he is following along behind me, one hand behind his back holding up his pants that are falling off and the other arm, wiping the snot off his face. One sweep every few minutes and it is smeared on his cheeks. Hate taking care of these kids. Why doesnt he stop crying, David if you dont shut up I am gonna make you wish you did, So I did it, I picked up a rock and threw it at him. Got him, now the crying is really getting to me. I had perfect aim and got him on the side of the head. Hey I did not mean to hurt him, not really. And I am gonna get in so much trouble, He will tattle.
OK I say to him, If you will stop crying I will get you an Ice Cream cone. I tried to make up for being such a horrible sister, (although I did not really care.)
I do not have any extra money, so the only way to get it is Steal. I have to do something or he is gonna tell Mama I hit him with a rock, and then I will get in big trouble, so what if I hurt the little brat.
Now I have to sneak this bomber out of the store. I stick it down in the waist of my jeans, when we get ourside I reach down to hand him the ice cream, It has thawed, all I pull out is the stick. Now I have two problems, David is wailing again, I have melted ice cream in my jeans and I am gonna get it.
Oh well, guess i will just have to pretend to pass out, then they will feel sorry for me, Works every time.
Wynell loved to tell this story on your Dad, Today Retha remembered it and told it again, I am sure you kids have heard it but thinking of your Dad with a huge head of messy hair, Snot on his face and crying for an ice cream is so much fun.

Pollock
Ok so that is the wrong spelling, I thought of the time Bob Bidwell had polyps and he told me he had pollacks, I laughed and said that was impossible to have a Russian up your butt,
So your dad had his test today, after delaying it 2 times, I finally had a fit and said I am not dealing with this any more. I will not cancel any appointment for you again, you do it from now on. On Tuesday he woke up with a cold, he had me call and see if that would interfere with the test, No it did not, I was secretly praying it would not as I was making the call. He tried every way he could to get out of it.
On Wednesday, he started the clean out, Today he had the test, seemed like hours, he went in at 830 and we just got home, it is 1200. The Doctor removed several polyps, some pretty large, they seem to be pre-cancerous. They are going to the lab for further testing, He can not guarantee he got them all, since some may be even smaller cells. Your dad has to have another colonoscopy in a year. Now that ticked him off too. He hated that test. I am so glad he finally went in to have the test done. He does not feel great a lot of the time, and with the grace of God the doctor got all the polyps, and he will be fine.
He is on antibiotics, due to the hot removal of the polyps, and he is on a liquid diet for another 24 hours. We have to watch for fever, pain, and general sick. I am sure he will be fine.

Ant Candy
Clay and Marie brought us a box of Sees fudge. We put it under the tree as we did not want to open it, we have too many sweets. So this morning as I was cleaning the floor I noticed a few ants being swept up. You got it the box was full of ants. I opende it to be sure and sprayed the little creatures. Just so your dad does not think I ate that 2 lb box of candy I have left it out for him to see. LOL
Hey looking at my waistline it looks like I ate a box of chocolates. I am not sure what is happening to me but not sure I like it, In fact I dont like it. But hey the alternative is exercise and I dont want to do that but I have to so I will quit rambling now.
So anyone for Ant Candy? Just kidding, It is now poison candy.

Hello
Well it was 35 years ago I was waddling through the house a huge, 135 lbs, My doctor had told me I was beginning to dilate, and it was almost a month until the baby was due. So on the night of the 11th, the ladies in the church gave me a baby shower, They were almost too late. On the 12th We took the boys, then 6 and 3 to town, Wonderworld, and bought the rest of the items we needed for the baby. During those days the doctors could only guess the sex of the baby. We did not care if it was a boy or girl. God had given us one more chance for a baby, From the moment we felt we were having a baby, Dr. Whitehead started injections of Progesterone, At first it was every two weeks but that was not stopping the contractions, so he increased it to every week. For 7 months I had a shot in one hip or the other. Thanks to the care of one Doctor I was able to deliver one more baby.
On December the 13th I woke up knowing I had to get to the hospital, when the doctor checked me he said, I cant afford to send you home so I am keeping you over night and we will see what happens, but I am sure you will be having this baby. The morning of the 14th, one of the nurses stepped in and said "Do you mind of your sister in law is in here with you". I was dumb for a few moments, I remember asking which sister in law, she said, "Francis McLemore". Again I wondered Francis then it clicked she meant LOuellen, she was past due, I immediately said,' Yes bring her in she is my Sister". It was surreal, I had a pain, she had a pain, I moaned she moaned. It was fun too. At noon Dr. W. Said "OK looks like about 5 this afternoon we will deliver", As soon as he had time to leave the hospital I felt sheris head break through, I started yelling, the baby is coming, the baby is coming, The nurses said " NO the Dr. Said later, but I will check you anyway". Well Sheri never did anything the conventional way, she broke her way into the world, early, and like a lady, not making too big a fuss. I kept saying "Is she OK she is not crying" , The staff kept informing me she was fine. They would then go over and thump her foot to make her make some noise, but she only made noise for a little while then back to quiet, again I would ask "Is she OK'. This kept up until they took her to the nursery. Actually my Doctor told them to take her out, He had to hurry up on me as my sister was about to deliver.
I yelled across to the other room, "Hey Louellen I have a girl", I can still hear her happiness as she said, through her pain, " OH a little girl"
She was so happy for me, and then 18 minutes later she delivered a little boy.
Our Doctor thought that day he was God, The staff told me he came back to the office saying, Hey I did it today, I delivered Sue a girl and her sister a boy.
AT that time I had 2 boys and She had 1 boy and 2 girls.
That was a day that still stays on my mind, no matter how forgetful I get. In fact I remember the birth of each of you children, it will always be a moment of great joy in our minds and hearts.
So that is what I was doing December 14, 1970. Can you recall that day?
Charles you and Ken were at Joe and Daisy Whitesides home, They took care of you for us while I was in the hospital. They were like grandparents to you, They called you the little Men,

Lights Action
We have lights on our house, Looks so nice, but there is a story behind putting them up.
Ok picture this, Redding, December . The tree was up the lights were purchased for the exterior, but someone needed to get on a ladder. Someone bought one of those light hanger thingies, You know you can stand on the ground and put them up? NO Way, that ws someones idea to make money and the product not work for all types of gutters and shingles.
OK we have the kind of shingles that are folded and hip for the new roofs, The 20 dollar gadget did not work for us, I tried and you all know I can usually do things like that, So the only logical thing to do is "Get the Ladder stupid, before you lose your cool". I had maybe 30 feet hung when David came home, seems he had an errand to run, (hope it was my christmas gift). Anyway we did get all the gutter clips up and lights hung, looked georgous.
Now on to the peak above the garage, We moved the ladder around and I climbed up as far as I could reach, That did not work, then we got the extension ladder, That too would not reach, Number one, your dad had it backward, I kept saying this feels wrong, When I stepped on the first step, I knew it was wrong, the rungs or feet were slanted the wrong way, OK, no big deal turn it around. Still can not reach the last 8 feet of the roof line on one side so the other side was not gonna reach either.
So we made a dicision, or David made a decision, He would Go onto the roof. Did you know this is the steepest roof in the world? First he went up and was really nervous, I could see it he lay down to try to put the shingle clips in, (he has no feeling in his left hand so going up was a mistake,)
Now it is my turn, I tell him to come down, He did, he scooted down on his butt, all the time saying 'Man this roof is stet," NOw you all know he walked around on several of our roofs in the past, no problem.
The lights had to go up, he knew I was the only one left to climb the ladder to the top. When I stepped from the ladder to the roof, it felt like the roof was almost straight up. I crab walked to the peak. I then lay across the peak and tried to reach the other side, Nope had to go over the peak, about 5 feet then I grabbed the lights and clipped them, I clipped about every 2 feet, then back over the peak.
Whew almost got that done, I kept thinking I can do this, I need up here like I need another hole in my head, Finally I got it all clipped, all the time lying on my tummy, my sweater got pushed up by the way I was scooting, my pant leg was up to my knee, also from scooting. Got it!!! I am done, now to scoot my way back down to the edge, I was so glad to get off that roof, and by the way, Yes, my Christmas lights will stay up all year. I am much too old to be crawling around on the roof. Dont you think?
Today I did not wake up until almost 9 am, That is really late for me and my neck burns like fire. But Hey we have a semi decorated house. Think the other 280 feet of light will go somewhere else. Like maybe around the pool next spring.
So how did you spend the evening yesterday, and yes it was getting dark when I got off the house.

Tuesday Blues
It is now 11 am and I have the house mopped, vacumn, dusted, laundry done, cookies ready to bake and now I need a break. What better way to take a break, talking to my loved ones. Well I am talking you all are listening. I hope.
We are trying to get our shopping done but cant bring ourselves to go into town once we are settled in for the evening, however it would be less hectic if we go around 10 or 11 pm.
Today I have to finish cleaning the pool too, get all the leaves out, but now I am waiting for the temp to come up. Hey it is in the low 30s outside still, got down to 27 last night in redoing but I bet it was lower here, the river makes it colder in this valley. Ice was everywhere or at least the ground was white with frost and ice.
We are still unsure what to get each other, I am sure it will be something for the house. I want a new entertainment center, one with doors and smaller so we can close off the television and smaller because it is so huge it detracts from the fireplace, That is the focal point of the room, the granite is so gorgeous. Your dad said we can not just junk it, no we will sell it or give it to one of the kids, Oh I guess there is only one here to take it. Your loss Charles and Sheri, LOL That is a joke by the way. Ken it will look great in your family room. don't you think?
Anyway a new one for us is out of the picture, we just cant justify getting something we dont really need.
OR do we need it? Hum got to think on that one.

Porn Addiction
Did any of you see the show on Lifetime last night? I have been hearing horrow stories lately of this kind of thing on the internet. Let me begin by saying, I pray each of you keep an eye on your children, I do not believe anyone, big, little, old or young. Should be putting those images in their mind,
Now on to the show, This sophormore was looking at porn on the internet, He was hooked, Yes, it can become addicting, He could not sleep well, he wanted to get up and see what he could see, his grades slipped, He was an olympic hopeful, He was losing his edge, HE used any friends hand held computers any time he could to look. sounds sick doesnt it? Good old Mom she knew he was changing, she did see him on the internet one night, he told her it would never happen again. She believed him.
I will not go through the whole story but it should open eyes, as to the evil that is out there. I would hope any of you would drop the internet from your home if you saw something like that happening. Believe me it can defile the santity of a home and family.
One issue that came up is one of his friends told him, because of him he was getting this Porn spam,For some reason we got it for a while, a couple of years ago. I would always delete until I found out I could report spam to my ISP. Our computer is a souce of income, and we prayed God would bless it when we bought it. I hate any apperance of evil in my home. Now it seems so much better.
MY friend Nancy said one of her friends brought up somethng on her computer and she was sick at her stomach because of it. She kept getting these pictures that would flash, well she had to clean her hard drive and block everything to get it out.
Dateline did a special on Internet Porn, They had agents pose as teens looking for a friend, they set up a time to meet, These people thinking they were going to see a teen girl or boy. One man actually came in Nude, One was a preacher, one was a teacher, Amazing at the people that showed up. These men were looking for a good time, and they got on National Television. This was done in a state that allows the other person to not be warned they were being taped. What a wicked world we live in.
I think that show really got to me, I do realize how things like that got into our minds, We let evil come in a little bit, It is not too bad, so lets look again, One more time wont hurt, The first time was evil going into the eyes, into the mind, into the heart. It can destroy families, It can destroy lives.
No child no matter how old should be accepted that he or she is just expermenting, Sorry that kind of experimentation is not ever acceptable in the Eyes of God.
I have heard things that kind of made me flinch, but I keep my mouth shut, Is it any of my business, Not sure of that, but I can pray, My friends, my family, My loved ones.
If any of you get an opportunity to see this show, plese do, and watch what your children do on the internet. You are the keepers of their faith,

Challah BREAD
Today Nancy is coming over, she wants to learn how to make bread. Can you believe it she has Never Made homemade bread. She found a recipe in Raleys Magazine and has decided that is a good one to start on. Well you know me, no surprises when it comes to making things for for friends, Sooooooooo I made some yesterday, We were having left over turkey soup anyway, so I needed bread for the soup. It is challah bread. It is made with honey as the sweetener. Then you braid the bread. I must say it turned out rather nice. I put one loaf in the freezer, She will never know I made it ahead of time. That is until we are done then I will let her have some with our lunch. You guessed it Left Over turkey soup. Today is the last day of left over turkey. YEAH. I cooked a small breast last weekend and that has been our meal every niggh, Turkey and stuffing, Turkey Sandwiches, Turkey Burgers with all the left overs on the bread, Turkey salad sandwiches and finally the best, turkey soup. I think your Dad secretly hopes he never sees another turkey. But hey you just dont throw out food. There are starving children somewhere in the US that need food. So be thankful for what you have.
Have a great day Kiddos, Love you all.

Being a Southern Lady
I am sitting here with my feet on the desk, (pretty visual huh) but hey, both feet are on the ground when people are around. That is one lesson I learned very early from my Daddy," A lady never sets with her feet up and exposing parts of her body that should be private." Can you imagine, a grandma, feet up on the sofa., one leg spread to the side and the first thing you see when you look her way is the, umm, umm, ummm. Well you get the picture. In fact it just came back to me, That is exactly what my Mom used to say when we sat improperly. "Sue, you are taking my picture", LOL Wonder where that old phrase came from?.
Now to tell you how my Daddy taught me. I was sitting on the sofa with my feet up, watching Television, He was in his chair across the room. He picked up his shoe, he said and I quote, "If I ever see you with your feet up again, I will throw my shoe at you". Funny thing I knew he would too, but it was a valuable lesson learned. No amount of telling me would work but the old shoe trick did. I can still see the situation in my mind. I would like to add, He did set me down and explain why I had to set more appropritely, He was an old fashioned Daddy, Boys were not allowed to ues bad language around our Mom, They would get a stern lecture. Boys had to take the floor and girls got the chairs, We had very little furniture, At the dinner table I sat on a bench with the younger kids, That made 5 of us on a bench he built. We had 4 straight back chairs, the cane bottoms had long ago worn out, and they were covered with rubber innertube cut up and weaved on to the chairs.
So you see I do know how to do without things, I know if things got really bad I could go back to my early training and make do or do without.
Now Sher you know why I worked on you being such a lady. It was important to my Daddy and became very important to me.
In fact I think he would still somehow get that shoe thrown at me.
Yes My Daddy wanted,. no demanded demanded that we be ladies and treated as ladies. Our brothers were not allowed to toot around us or they were looked at very strongly. My Daddy never Never laid a hand on me. He said Mama would take care of us girls,
She seldom got us but she always made us go get our own switches, and it better not be a tiny little breaking one. NO hand whipping did we get. And they never counted to make us mind, we only had to be told and it was Yes Mam and Yes Sir. Got to love the respect that children were taught in the old days. I know they still teach that in the South.
