Happy New Year

Hi guys, hope you all had a great new year day. We did, We spent the last day of 2005 looking for a new car. We found one and it is just what we needed. Quite by accident though.
When we drove into the dealership, it was so crouded, shoppers everywhere. It seems Crown motors had put a big ad in the Searchlight. We never take the time to look at the papers for deals. So here is the rest of the story.
We decided to leave the dealership, the cars had all the roads blocked, we had to weave our way through the place and finally headed for the exit. David spotted a car that looked like a crown victoria. It looked nice, a 2005. Not old and low mileage. But it was black with no extras on it. We really did not care about the extras but a nice salesman walked up. We told him what we really liked and he showed us a Chrylser. It was really nice. Had everything but the price was 24000 and we had already set a price at 20000 and no more. So he said we could make a deal, we would try. We tried but they would not come down, to our price, they came within 1500 of it. We told them thank you but we would go to Taylors and see what they had. They were not letting us walk, the clerk said How do you feel about one with a few more miles on it, like 18000? We said according to the shape and price, she said, 15995. Ding, sounds good. We go take a look, As we were backing out one salesman came out to take info off the car. He had a potential buyer in the office. Or salesperson said Ignore it, we were taking a test drive. I felt kind of weird, since someoen already was thinking of the car. Probably wanting to bargain. Hey it already had 8000 marked off the sticker price. So we drove it and it was an amazing drive. smooth as silk. When we switched drivers the salesperson came to the drivers seat and said let me fix that for you, The gas and brake pedals actually adjust to 3 inches closer to the driver. YEAH!!! I can sit further back from the steering wheel. (Safety issue for me).
We love it so we walk back into the show room, the sales lady said "How much do you like that car?" We said it is nice, She told us they had a buyer in the upper show room and if we wanted it we needed to put our name on the computer, Mind you it ws not locking us in, just deterrring them. That gave us time to go over our options. We bought it, It is very nice, 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis something.
Now for the bonusus. We did not know this, It has smart air bags, If a small person is in the driver or passenger seat it determins which force of air bag to use. It is a two stage air bag system. It determines how far away from the steering wheel you are and how much you weigh. Now I feel so much safer. As you all know,I have no protection around my heart,so an air bag, to save my life can take it. It also had information in a system to tell how much you brake, how fast you were going, everything that can be investigated in case of an accident. KInd of like the little black box. It is a cream leather interior, Very sharp car. We were set to buy one with cloth seats, no power windows or anything extra. but this one was waiting for us.
WE did keep the old car, Your dad can now drive it to work and it will go on one tank of gas for a month. His truck uses a tank a week. Not sure why but it will be a great farm truck.
So that is how we spent New Years eve, New years day we sat in the living room and watched a Law and Order marathon. We love Law and Order.
