Just thinking

Born of the Spirit
"Just as you can hear the wind but can't tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can't explain how people are born of the Spirit."
John 3:8 NLT
I do not like judging. I am not judging, I am asking a question that needs an answer.
What is a Christian????
It seems the line has grayed. Too often people go to church and what are they seeking? Redemption?
Yes I was raised in a Christian home. We had Do Not a lot. Not "Oh a little can't hurt. Or I can sin and immediately ask for forgiveness."
Maybe I am being cynical. I don't even know any longer.
We have been unable to lock down in a church for the last few years. No matter where we go, it seems the leader, Minister, has issues that need addressed.
We went to one in Anderson for a while. It was OK but as time went on I saw or felt something wrong.
When the minister began his sermon or teaching, it was good, He would be going really well, I was held in total interest, visualizing each scene and checking it against me, He was using the word of god. I followed along in my Bible.
Suddenly, There came a joke, a JOKE totally out of the blue, right in the middle of his teaching.
Now I do love a good joke, but Hey not every few sentences, He seemed to have a hard time moving himself out of the way and letting God control his words.
His jokes were usually on how good looking he was. "He Wasn't".
He just had to be part of the sermon. No relation to his teaching or scripture at all.
One Sunday as my nape hairs stood on end, after one of his inappropriate jokes, I looked at David and said, "I have had enough, lets go, he is irritating me."
So to bring this to light.
I had weird vibes from him.
Much later on I had heard he was acting in appropriately with his secretary.
On Saturday I found out he has admitted to it, but get this, "We are spiritually married, with no Sex"
Oh yes he is already married and has been for Years and Years. He is no spring chicken.
How in the heck can you justify that in the eyes of God, The people you are to be leading and teaching.
This information just made me sick. It was clamoring my mind and making me question "Where are the Real Christians?"
I see it happening in the Church's too often, our place of refuge is being taken over by sin. That is why our Refuge should be in the arms of God. That is my safe place.
Sheltered in the arms of God.
Too much emphasis is put on how we look, how we dress, every aspect except how we Love the Lord, How we Live for him, How we are more Christlike.
Being a Christian, to me, means loving regardless of the condition of the body or clothes.
Did you know if Jesus walked into your church today, He would be scorned, His shoes would be dirty, probably his hair and clothes, He spent day and days in the hills, roadsides, and cities. He probably needed a bath.
Would we avoid him because of his odor, possible avoid him altogether but not making him feel welcome?
Or would we simply meet him at the door and turn him away?
Would we? Would I?
Lord I pray not. I believe myself to be more open than that.
Would I offer him food? There are lots of hungry out there. Are you feeding someone you don't know this holiday season?
I pray each of you have a marvelous Thankful holiday.
We are still clothed and housed and have our health.
We just need more of the spirit of God in our lives.

One of the most blessed Thanksgiving Day I have had was we invited the little old couple from down the street to share in our thanksgiving day. It really blessed me and the next day I found a note written in a real sweet handwriting that told me how much they appreciated the lunch and all the left overs they could possibly eat for days.

you will never find a perfect church as they are all ran by humans who are prone to poor judgement. you just have to find your best fit

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. The day I find a church that I agree with everything there is the day I need to find a new church.
