I think it is pretty cool.
I also need to make an angel quilt. I have the angels to embroider on, I Just need the idea to hit my brain. Nope, not there yet.
So I have been reading poetry again. I found this poem and wondered if you ever read about slavery from this viewpoint?
No I am NOT for slavery, I think it was a horrible thing to do, buy and sell humans.
This was written by Phillis Wheatley (1753?-1784).
Born in Africa, Phillis was brought to America on a slave ship in 1761.
Servant for a wealthy Boston tailor she was the First Black American Woman Poet.
On Being Brought from Africa to America
"Twas mercy brought me from my pagan land,
Taught my benighted soul to understand
That there's a God, that there's a Savior too:
Once I redemption neither sought nor knew.
Some view our sable race with scornful eye,
"Their color is a diabolic dye."
Remember, Christians, Negroes, black as Cain,
May be refin'd, and join th' Angelic Train.
I find poetry very interesting, It does not have to rhyme, it has to fill your tongue with balance.
I see poetry as a play being preformed in my minds eye.
I can almost see Phillis, a beautiful sable skinned girl, chained beneath the deck of a ship, Only to arrive in America to find God.
A sad and beautiful thought.
We love poetry, David and I often quote lines from Poems we learned in school, (So many years ago.)
