Old Folks Pills

At one time I watched my Mom as she took her pills. Her daughters had them placed in pill containers for her so she would take the correct ones at the correct times.
I could not imagine that many pills.
I would sit and think, "I shall never have to take a lot of pills"
After all, I was young what could happen to me? I was going to just live and then I would die. Simple plan.
However life is not that simple. In 1994, All we had in our medicine cabinet were aspirin and Davids high blood pressure medication.
Do you realize that was only 16 years ago. I will never forget that year.
NEVER.
It was a year of big changes.
As I said, "We never think it can happen to us, but it can. "
So try not to be too judgmental of people taking medication. It is not a choice, It is a way to continue to live.
Enjoy the poem, I again borrowed this from Third Time Lucky Merle. She is an elderly lady in Queensland Australia. Always posting something to make me smile.
As a matter of fact, David woke me on Friday morning laughing, he had just read all the lawyer jokes. He could not stop laughing. He laughed as he showered, he laughed as he dressed.
He is someone who usually starts their day laughing.
Thank God for his laughter. Thank God for Merle posting these wonderful jokes and poems.
A row of bottles on my shelf
Caused me to analyze myself.
One yellow pill I have to pop
Goes to my heart so it won't stop.
A little white one that I take
Goes to my hands so they won't shake.
The blue ones that I use a lot
Tell me I'm happy when I'm not.
The purple pill goes to my brain
And tells me that I have no pain.
The capsules tell me not to wheeze
Or cough or choke or even sneeze ....
The red ones, smallest of them all
Go to my blood so I won't fall.
The orange ones, very big and bright
Prevent my leg cramps in the night.
Such an array of brilliant pills
Helping to cure all kinds of ills.
But what I'd really like to know .....
Is what tells each one where to go!!

Mike and I tease about our newfound pill collection. Granted, at this point they are for the most part pain pills. But since I fought Sepsis the pill cabinet has been overflowing.
