I just spent an hour in my garage packing away my Really OLD China.
I was given most of it when I was 16.
It is Golden Rose and it is Beautiful. I did add a few pieces over the years.
When David and I were young, We ate on them on special occasions, Anniversary's, Birthdays Etc.
One day I realized I did not have enough for each family member so they sat in my china hutch for YEARS. I finally found a place to find replacements and I did. I am still short a few items but they are really pricey. One at a time is all I can do. I never see them at yard sales or used item stores. NEVER Have.
They are by Noritake in case you want to look when scanning shops.
I also collect Twin Pear dishes. (seen above)

They are also called twin avocado but I think they look like pears.
I received my first dish when I was in 8Th grade.

Story behind serving dish.
For Christmas we had to bring a White Elephant gift. Something from home. The minute this dish was opened I knew I had to have it. My heart was racing as it made its way around the room. NO ONE Wanted it. It was just a dish. (to them) To me it was going to be my First dish to own, as Mine.
Suddenly it ended up in my hands, It was even more beautiful up close, The dish has etched pears in the center of clear glass. The leaves are all etched in also.
(The glass can be pale green or pink.)
I held it to my chest and breathed a sigh of relief. It Was MINE.
Conrad Davis brought that dish to class. I thanked him later, I am not sure his Mom approved of him taking such a precious dish from home or maybe it was all they had to bring.
We were all rather poor, I do not even know what I took that day.
To this day, I look at that dish and recall a little girl with heart pounding, hands sweating as each person touched the dish.
I wanted something of value and taste, No toys or games for me.
Years later I looked up the history of that dish. It is pre 1922 dishes.
Much Later, While in Folsom California a few years ago. We stopped in an antique store. We looked around a while when the owner said, "Are you looking for something in particular?"
I said, "Yes, but never see it,"
I described the dish, he walked into the back and returned with exactly the same dish.
I think I jumped up and down and screamed. Sheri was with me and I recall her saying, "Now Mom don't get too excited, he will raise the price."
He told me he just never sees them.
I told him my story and bought the dish from him for $16. I felt it was worth it. You can see by the wear on the bottom it was a well loved, used dish.
So although it is an inanimate object it can be loved and cherished and bring back sweet, youthful memories.

I love the dishes. I also have a few like these. One's I started to collect many years ago but had to stop when others discovered them and the price went way up.
Your story was so sweet! What a precious memory.
