We have these walnut trees coming out from OLD stumps. I mean really old.
They always hang down into the road and we try to keep the road clear.
However this year, it was worse than ever. The Mulberry tree is a mess and leans more than it stands up.
On Tuesday I see David out working so I go to help him. He grabs the chain saw and gets to work. He cuts two huge shoots from the walnut trees, (smells so good).
Then he cuts out some of the mulberry trees.
We call Ronnie and yes he wants the wood for the fireplace this year.
He comes over to cut it up, He does a great job.
However we told him we would haul the debris to the burn pile, not to worry about it.
When David starts cleaning it up on Wednesday evening, I see him struggling. He is in pain.
When he has his last load, I see him leaning over the wheelbarrow. I know what that means, he cant catch his breath or his legs wont move.
I walk over and say, "Its a day!!!"
He argues, I do not back down, I tell him to get in the cart and I will pull him home.
He laughs, OK then I offer to drive the car up to the tree, maybe 200 feet. He again laughs but decides he has to stop.
He finally says OK.
I move the garbage cans to the road as his energy level is GONE.
He ambles back to the house, (under orders) and I tell him to strip.
YEP Strip. Time to cool down. We are jumping into the pool.
It sounds like I am bossy but he would not stop unless I set my foot down or threaten to haul trees myself. That he does not want any more than I want to see him in pain.
He does a lot of sitting on the steps of the pool but he does cool down and he looks better.
Poor guy just can't do what he did , even five years ago. He is totally wiped out.
OH well neither can I.
He is so tired he is talking very little. Just sitting, Finally he grabs his float and totally relaxes. Good.
After about an hour, we come in, and he sits and sleeps.
Good I love to see him resting, I often walk through and smile. TV is on, (mute) he has his ears on and he is sleeping peacefully.
Pain is gone and debris can wait.
Now I am just in from picking corn, squash, apples, potatoes and a few plums.
Man when are those melons going to get ready?
I want a good crenshaw or Cantaloupe or sugar baby or Charleston gray melon.
Those things are over a foot long.
Time to hop in the pool, shuck some corn, put apples away, wash squash, OH HECK forget the pool.
Got to work.
