Quilts

IN Jeanette's last post, (www.grandmaspost.blogspot.com) Or almost the last. She pictured a quilt she had made and a note at the bottom.
"I would love to make little lap quilts for Saint Jude, and donate them."
So what else could we do? We, (her sisters and anyone else that wants to join) are making quilts for children.
I have cut out 4 cheater panels for 4 quilts. I have cut out 30 twelve inch squares for two more quilts.
I pulled out boy fabric and girl fabric, I was imagining how a child would feel when wrapped in Love. Pink with hearts for girls. Animals and farm equipment for boys.
I have sorted all my strips by color and am ready to begin.
I am so excited about the prospect of making these quilts. Several will be made from strips sewn to a foundation.
For each one I plan to put an angel or a flower on each one with a note, printed on the back, "In Memory of Jeanette Heird". (keeper of the neighborhood children)
So I better get busy on this quest.

I have big plans so, Please Pray I do not get in over my head. After all these have to be quilted and I am not a final quilter.
I Can piece beautifully, but quilting leaves me with puckers.

Instead of quilting them, what about tacking them... I have done that on several smaller quilts... I called St. Judes today to ask about them and the girl in charge of that is supposed to call me back tomorrow with some information on them.. I will forward the information...

LOVE YOU!!!!!

What a sweet idea, I know it would make her happy to know you're doing this.

As I wrote this, Hannah(age 4) walked up, looked at Jeanette's sweet picture you posted and said "what a pretty little girl grandma, I wish she was my friend"...I said yes,she was pretty and she was much loved too. Hannah said "loved like you love me"? I told her yes, just like that!

Okay, I am not the quilter, but I can do this! And tacking sounds much easier to me. So, are you guys each making a quilt? I would need much assistance, I'm afraid. But this is an awesome idea.

Rachelle, You can get together with mom and I and we will work on them.. I got the address/instructions for mailing them in to St. Jude today... That would be a really fun time.. Aunt Sue, you can get a web cam and you can join us on the computer... That would be GREAT!!!!!!

That is awesome! Just let me know in advance when and what you guys are doing. I would love to come join! (I'm more of a day-timer chick vs. a fly-by-the-seater gal, lol).

Then, I can see and learn from the professionals! :) So, are you guys making a quilt each? or are you each contributing to a quilt one at a time? what?
