There is nothing quite like sitting by a warm oven, just letting the smell of the fresh whatever waft through the house.
And this is done at 9 at night.
NOT
Why you ask?
Because the smell is not good.
The oven is hot, the smell is burned Tupperware.
The plastic will not come out of the oven.
Yep I did it.
See it goes like this.
My Tupperware was wet when I moved it from the dishwasher.
I thought, and Knew if you put it in the oven with just the warmth of the light, the Tupperware would dry nicely.
OK but there is a big problem with that. If you sometime forget things. Then it is not a good idea to trust your instincts.
I decided to have Halibut for dinner.
David was going to fry himself a chicken fried steak. YUCK
So he began cooking, I began warming the oven.
Suddenly I say, "I think you are burning the pan."
He says back, "OH I did, but I think my steak is done."
I walk in and the stench is horrible.
I see the oven smoking. I open the oven.
He drops his steak on the floor. We both freak out.
There on the shelf is a partial Tupperware canister, and no top.
Or what is left of a top now a dripping pile of Yuck.
Dripping onto the shelf, onto the oven bottom, into the chamber below.
Oh well nothing to do but pull the manual to figure out how to get the bottom of the oven out.
The Book Lies.
I get the oven door off, I start scraping up what I can with a spatula. The oven is hot so it comes off fairly easily.
The oven slowly cools, Now the gunk does not come out. I take the bottom of the oven out, I slowly chip away at the pile of green.
I am exhausted from chipping and sitting on the floor.
Finally we get it all off. At least that part. I put the floor of oven back in and warm it again. I am finally able to totally clean the oven.
We put the one rack back in,
We Try TRY to put the door on.
The book lies, it is NOT easy.
It will not go. We are NOT strong enough or smart enough to make it work.
I work until my upper back is in severe pain.
I sat down, and say, "I cant do it."
I remember the other rack, it is outside the door, in the rain.
Yep that rack is the Really Bad One.
I now have to put it back in the oven, warm it up and clean it up.
that will come later.
(Much Later) after the door is on.
David locks up, (right he forgot the back door, open about an inch)
He turns off heat. (nope not that either).
Now remember he always (usually) goes through and checks EVERYTHING out.
I do not expect him to, he just does it, even if check it out. (so lately I do not even check)
No wonder I wake at 2 and 3 and finally get up at 5. I am sweating.
I figured the night has just warmed up.
Nope the heat was on 65. Too hot for me to sleep well.
Oh for dinner, David picked up his steak. (that is a first).
I ate a bowl of cereal.
Now how the Heck do you put an oven door back on?
I even went on line and watched a video of how to do it.
That person lied too.
LOL
