The Shasta County Libraries probably have Overdrive, which is a program where he can check out ebooks. You WILL need a library card, but that's about it.
You can find them at overdrive.shastalibraries.org
If you wait Kris or I can help you use the Kindle OR you can ask the library, sometimes they offer classes on using ereaders.
