That is MY space

As you know anything, ANYTHING can happen in retail.
I see the world through hungry eyes. Everyone lines up for their food, and "LO" to the person that steps in front of them or Heaven forbid they have to wait for me to cut and serve the food. (Properly)

On Saturday I was given the honor of serving our cakes, You get half a sheet for 17.99. Chocolate cake, 2 pounds of chocolate moose in the center with mounds of chocolate butter cream frosting.
Or you can get a white cake with two pounds of cheesecake moose and vanilla butter cream frosting.
Each cake serves 48 people.

We alternate cakes, One chocolate, the next time vanilla.
As I was putting the cake out, I watched as the lines formed.
"For Gods sake people, have you NEVER had cake?"
At one point a little boy, I say about 10 stepped up. Ahead of him were a few women and a man.
He was smiling when suddenly the man reached up, tapped his sh older and said, "Young man there are ladies waiting already, wait your turn."
I think my heart  hit the floor, as the little boy turned, in obvious embarrassment and  snuck away.
I continued my sales pitch while watching for the little man.
As the snide remarks made their way out of the adults mouth I became furious. I listened patiently and put my tray of cake out.
Suddenly I looked up and said, "I know this is hard to believe but 90% of the children say "thank You while  most adults just shrug, grab their food and grunt. They treat us as a server to them and not as a person"
I got a lot of responses, "Are you kidding, And the children are the nicest"
I say, "YES" rather emphatically.

I am still watching for the little man.
Suddenly he comes to the table with his Mom, I say, "Are you the young man who was here a few minutes ago?"
He drops his head and says, "Yes"
I then apologize for the mans actions while saying, "It was an honest error on your part that should have been handled differently, I am sorry he hurt you and touched you."  "Now to treat you, I am giving you a big piece, Do you like frosting?" He said, "Yes Mam" I gave him a huge corner piece and a big smile.
His Mom thanked me profusely.
That is our next generation, Why can we not treat them and teach them properly.

Which brings me to this one, MY SPACE.

I am serving the cake on a tray, (9 pieces per tray).
As I am doing my sales pitch I feel someone right on me, I mean if he had been closer we would be Siamese twins.
He grabs a big piece of cake, I am laughing, I say, "What are you doing?"
No comment!!!!!
He walks away with cake in hand.
I look at my customers and I am asked, "Did you know him?"
"NO I DO NOT, AT ALL" I laughed as I spoke to him, and I continued to a; laugh and be a awe of a sneak attack.
I am in astonishment and I think the personal space thing got to me. I was aghast.
It did not frighten me, it just amazed me that a grown man could be so pushy and he was older.
OH Well I will live to rebuild and serve another day.

Just waiting for Charles or Ken to comment on the "Moose" in the center.
