Sweet Hour of Prayer

In the Bible we are told of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. His beloved followers could NOT stay awake and pray for an HOUR.
Have you ever tried to pray for an hour? Just pray and meditate on God, in your way. Kneeling, walking, sitting or just praying loudly? Singing prayers is also good.
Well we did yesterday in church.
I admit it was not a long time, It was only 45 minutes but it sure opened my heart.
I soaked several Kleenex.
I needed so much to pray and talk to God. Just talk, ask Why he took my little girl, (sister) Ask how to fix situations, how to move forward.
So many questions, questions that mean so little to him but to humans are the difference between heartache and joy.
We also spent time to just adore and worship him.

I have always loved God. (and told him daily.)
I have tried to be a good person and wife and mom. (failing on those)
But it is not what we do that makes us Good it is the one in our hearts that is good.
It has taken me a long time to realize , and I am not sure I do yet.
I still want to give all I have.
After buying for the needy on Saturday and packing it up for delivery to the church.
I saw several more boxes on the table. (the names came in little gift boxes with item needed )Of course we can not afford to take more boxes but I so wanted to.
I whispered to David, "There are several boxes left."
I got no response. He knew what I was thinking.
I knew what he was thinking "NO Hon we can't afford it."
It just hurts my heart to see someone in need.

But we also had laughter in church.
Darlene and I are glad we are old now. LOL
Especially after seeing the little boys on stage for advent candle lighting.
It sure brought back memories of our own children taking center stage when the service was going on.
These little guys would NOT stand still. They wandered the platform while their Dad read of the birth of Christ. (it was a family affair)
Mom could not get her hands on them.
As soon as the candles were lit, the elder child walked up and promptly tried to blow them out.
I sat there laughing and heard little of the scripture. NO not my big laugh, my silent head down shaking laugh.
Everyone was snickering. Especially us older ones who had been there and done that.

I thought of Ken as he was in Children's choir, trying to keep his head bowed and eyes closed.
He just had to look so he opened one eye and looked around. (the other eye was tightly shut)
Doug, smelling the artificial flowers and sniffing loudly.
Charles not standing still, twisting his hands and singing real loud. (off key and wrong words)
Sheri turning flips in front of the church. (they were all supposed to be singing for children's church.)
OH Memories so sweet and so Wonderful.
